Copyediting and proofreading
At Westchester Publishing Services UK, we offer high quality editorial services for publishers to suit your requirements. Our editorial team comprises hugely experienced freelance copyeditors and proofreaders, with subject-specific expertise in academic books and journals, or a track record in both trade fiction and non-fiction.
Our copyeditors and proofreaders will work to an established editorial style, or to your own house style, to ensure quality and consistency throughout the manuscript. Editorial services can be fulfilled from the UK, US, or offshore, depending on your preferred style and/or budget.
Our copyediting services include cross checking of references against citations, and applying a consistent style throughout the references, whether an established style (such as Oxford, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver) or a bespoke style preferred by the client. Where suitable we use our advanced pre-editing capabilities to apply automated styling to the manuscript, which is then checked by our skilled editors.
All of our copyeditors and proofreaders pay meticulous attention to detail and work closely with both publishers and authors, and all are provided with training and feedback in their designated Westchester or River Editorial client’s house style. Our team is comfortable working with Word styles, tracked changes, PDF annotation, hard copy mark up, and other methods as required by the client.
Indexing
We offer professional indexing services carried out by highly trained and experienced indexers specialising in a range of subject areas. We can produce subject, author, or combined indexes, as well as indexes of legal tables. Our indexers will work to your house indexing style, or we can suggest a suitable style if needed. All of our indexes are produced manually and are bespoke to each project.
We also offer a range of other editorial services for publishers including answer checking, alt-text creation, and project management. All services are available as standalone services or as part of a package.
